4 Ways To Improve Your Mental Attitude

If you want your future to be positive, we must practice having a positive attitude. The following four habits will help cultivate a healthy mental attitude:

  • Saying daily affirmations
  • Counting your blessings
  • Meditating
  • Getting back to nature

Improving your mental attitude takes practice. It’s something you’ll need to do for the rest of your life, so you might as well start today. Here’s how:

Daily Habit 1: Repeat Daily Affirmations To Yourself Every Morning When You First Awake

Words have a great deal of power, for good and for bad. So watch what that little voice says to you in your head.

It’s been said that the universe sends to us what we ask for. If you say something enough, eventually you will believe it. And then once you believe it, you will become it.

Before you start your day, go to the mirror and say some daily affirmations (here are some you can use, or add your own). Say these words daily, out loud, in the mirror to your self everyday. Speak them out to the universe.

  1. I am smart.
  2. I am capable.
  3. I am talented and gifted.
  4. I am a beautiful human being.
  5. I love to learn.
  6. I strive to improve myself.
  7. Everyday and in every way I get better and better.
  8. I am successful.
  9. I am disciplined.
  10. I am honest and trustworthy.
  11. The truth is important to me.
  12. I am a leader.
  13. I can achieve anything.
  14. I never give up.
  15. I am blessed.
  16. I am courageous.
  17. I am calm, relaxed, and peaceful.
  18. I am a winner.
  19. I am limitless.
  20. I have persistence in what I believe.
  21. I believe in myself.
  22. I am the best.
  23. I am a great listener.
  24. I am strong and healthy.
  25. I love challenges.
  26. I believe in my dreams.
  27. I choose to be happy.
  28. Life is beautiful and I enjoy every moment.
  29. I feel confident.
  30. I am grateful.

Daily Habit 2: Count Your Blessings

Being happy is being smart enough to know just how good you have it. Consider the following (especially us stupid Americans):

  • You need an annual income of $34,000 a year to be in the richest 1% of the world.
  • Even with an earning of $12,000, you’re still in the top 10% of the world.
  • And if you make more than $70,000, you’re in the top .1%.
  • America’s poorest are some the world’s richest.

I am ashamed at how much we Americans (including myself) whine. It’s important to take time everyday (perhaps after you say your affirmations) and count your blessings. Say thank you for all the blessings that have occurred in your life.

Daily Habit 3: Meditate 

Why meditate? There’s a connection between the body and mind. A large percentage of all diseases is psychosomatic, meaning, they start as a seed in our heads.

Meditation helps us to practice silencing the inner voices in our head, which are often the start of many of our problems and diseases. They also say that once you can get your mind to shut up (yogis call it your ‘monkey mind’) you’re in a place of silence. That is where you will find God.

God is in the silence.

Meditation will improve your mental attitude. Even five minutes everyday will help.

Weekly Habit 4: Get Back To Nature

We live in a very artificial world, surrounded by man-made structures. There is magic in nature. So one habit to get you back to nature is the following:

  • Walk in nature at least one time a week.

Do not listen to your iTunes when you do this walk. Listen to the sounds of nature speaking to you.

Walking in nature is moving meditation. It will also help you respect the higher power that has made all of this possible. Ponder the design of a tree, or the entire ecosystem of a forest and it’s synergy. No man-made design even comes close to the magic created by God.

Nature also has a way of putting life into perspective. Your worries seem pretty small when you’re surrounded by nature. What’s the worse that could happen? You lose everything and  end up living in nature. Is that really so bad?

Or perhaps the worst thing is that you die. Your body returns to the soil and your spirit becomes part of nature. Again, is that really so bad?

Another thing to do to help you get back to nature:

  • Purchase fresh flowers every week and have them in your home

Summary

Your mental attitude is everything. Your mental attitude determines your future. So work to incorporate daily affirmations, recognizing your blessings, meditation, and respecting nature into your life. You’ll be amazed at the miracles that start to happen as you cultivate these habits.
